Why do people judge you, on what u wear?

people use fashion as a way to express themselves, sometimes make a statement... what you wear reflects not just the styles you enjoy but what you're choosing to represent. if people are judging you because of what you wear it's because what you're wearing has an intended effect -- and if you think that's unfair, then why have fashion in the first place? we'd all wear the same uniform... what you wear speaks to others that haven't met you, so you should expect that people will make their own inferences -- for better or worse

Some people are just shallow. And some people really can't comprehend the idea of behavior and inner motivations--they really believe that what they see is all there is.

And then some people take advantage of others' knack for judging on appearance alone and deliberately make themselves unattractive, because they'd rather believe that their lack of popularity is because they're being judged by their appearance and not by their dysfunctional personalities.

misterlyle's on the right track. Unless your mother still dresses them, most people choose clothes that reflect themselves, or at least reflect the way they "see" themselves. To some extent you have also chosen your clothes to make a statement. If you choose your clothes to make a statement, whether consciously or not, you're going to go around assuming that others have also chosen their clothes to make a statement about themselves. So, we are all predisposed to judge each other on what we wear.

people are so complacent and want everybody to fit inside their little box. So when they see one who doesn't fit their characteristics then they judge. Instead of accepting people where they are and who they are. People always want to think that they are above somebody. That's why there is so much hatred. People judging. Really is silly if you think about it.

naturally the eye loves all that's beautiful. The outer appearance is what makes us unique. Our outer appearance is what catches every eye. Therefore, since we wear clothes then this is what catches eyes and based on this people judge us.

Because psychologically, we form an impression of someone in the first few minutes we meet them. People look for clues to give them an idea of who they are dealing with and clothing and hair are the quckest things to turn to, as well as body language.

I think that sadly we live in a society that is judgmental and materialistic. I think many are constantly trying to compare themselves with others and trying to figure out what is normal and where do they fit in.

well, it usually takes more than a day to get to know someone. how do you react to a person you never met. Looks sometimes but not always read a person. if you see a manwith a gun strapped to his waist. do you think he is friendly or mean?
