My baby hamster was fine in the morning when I went out. After I came back in the afternoon, it was motionless in the food container (it like to stay inside the food container). I took it up and gave it a little shake, but it did not respond. Its hands and legs were tightly crouched, eyes slightly opened but had dried up. Its body was still warm when I took it up, so I guess it died a few minutes before I reached my home (so sad, why can't it wait a bit more?). After a while, its hands and legs slowly relaxed and the body turned cold. I don't know why this happen. I put it together with its father in a cage and sometimes it got frightened by its father and would scream. Could it have died from shock when I was not around? It is also the child of the father and his daughter (inbreeding) and I heard that this is not good. Could this be the reason why it died? What can be deduced from tightly crouched hands and legs?

Heya :)

I had the same problem and yes mine was to shock. Hamsters are very sensitive and can die of heart attacks. Mine died because a truck near my house drove by with flashing lights and the light came through the window and shocked me never mind my hamster. I feel sorry for your loss as hamsters can be very adorable. It is more than likely it died from freight! :(

Okay, for starters, hamsters are solitary creatures. May I suggest getting a book (either buy or get from the library) on hamsters and reading it before you purchase another hamster....
In pet stores, you see them living together in peace, however, hamsters can only live together for a short while before instinct kicks in and they will fight (mostly males will fight to the death, especially if there is a female in the cage as well...it becomes a fight for territory as well as the girl)...... We (my husband and I) had 2 hamsters both female and even those were kept in separate cages, though they had met through the cage before, but never unattended or without something between them.
NEVER put 2 hamsters in the same cage...if you want them to breed that's different, however you should read up on how to breed and what to do with them...there are certain times you're allowed to put a male in with a female and certain times you shouldn't.....

Your hamster likely died of fright... depending on the type (as I'm not sure if this is the case with all breeds), I know Syrians are prone to heart issues (Yes, they can have heart attacks and strokes I believe as well).

I feel bad for you, I lost my hamster a few weeks back (Jan 29) and she was 2.5 years old.... but I think you really need to do some research of your own so that you can provide the best home possible for your hamsters.

My husband and I have done extensive research on both hamsters and mice as we own both... extensive to the point that we used to frequent a pet store and at one point, we stumped the pet store owners and then they asked us something about the animals because they didn't know. We have about 7 books on the 2 animals, knowledge of raising young first hand as well as having done hours of online research and from other books from the library.

Again, sorry for your loss and please look into doing some research of your own.... and if you're interested in looking at our pets please go to our website and learn more about them: http://4einc.info/ourpets.html

there is not any longer something incorrect with crying once you hamster dies. I'ev had 2 hamsters die and each and each I cried approximately all nighttime. basically bear in recommendations which you took care of your hamster quite properly and that it enjoyed you as much as you enjoyed it. You hamster is in a greater suitable place, it could by no skill be ignored, is often enjoyed, and has each and all of the food interior the international (my hamster could like that). I consistently have been given yet another hamster. bear in recommendations the excitement you had getting your first hamster, the subsequent one will nonetheless have the comparable excitement. via getting yet another hamster, you're commencing over with something that desires love, Blondie could such as you for that. If it have been you, you does no longer recommendations leaving this international for a greater suitable place. yet you likely could sense style of egocentric for leaving those you enjoyed in the back of. I guess your hamster feels the comparable way, seeing you chuffed could make you hamster chuffed too. CHEER UP!

If you truly want to know why it died, you might call the vet to see if you can have an autopsy done.
