Super duper easy way is to download a utility called cpuz otherwise go to Crucials website and installed there utility (activex control) it will tell you what type/kind/how much memory you can install and how much you currently have installed.

When you first turn on the computer you enter the BIOS setup and it will usually tell you the RAM type. I have to press F2 to enter setup. You need to look in the top right of the screen to see what you have to press to enter setup. All manufactures are different. Mine is a Dell.

Hi. Download Belarc Advisor http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html and run it. You'll get all kinds of info. Another freeware program is Everest Home http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html .
