Besides size, what are some of the noticeable differences between the two? What is the dirving experience like? Bumpier, smoother? How about gas mileage, safety, reliability, overall driving experience? Thanks.

Usually it is the Options that are different. a midsize will have a more powerful engine, better suspension, and since it it bigger the wheelbase is longer giving a more stable, smoother ride. Gas mileage will be a bit lower , but these days, not by much, unless you are getting 8 cylinders. Safety and reliability really depend on the make and model of the car. If you are just looking for transportation a 4 cylinder may be just right, but if you are going to keep your car longer than 5 years and want something to take on road trips i would go with a 6cyl midsize for the comfort and safety.

theres quite a difference from outside, on the inside there is way more leg room in front and back. i think it all depends on what cars your comparing to tell if one is smoother than the other, i mean if your comparing a buick to a kia. it really depends on what make and what packages you get. look at the consumers guide to help you decide about safety.
