The news today is disgracing the confederate flag, in SC theyre campaign is to get the flag takin down off the memorial. I feel that its a sign of our heritiage. african americans get to display and show and be proud of theyre heritage and hey black history month. Yet when it comes to Southern Pride we are supposed to put our flags away and not have our pride or heritage shown. The confederate flag represents the southern states and southern heritage "old glory" and "dixie". People want to say oh its just for slavery and the flag is worthless. African Americans faught in the confederacy as well, not because they had to but because THEY WANTED TOO! people need to read up and stop putting racist on a southern flag. Yes there are people who fly it for racist but most do not. Judge the person not the flag. And also your ANCESTORS might of been slaves, but YOU are not. STOP ACTTING LIKE YOU WERE! African americans fly the flag as well yep they do believe it.And guess what.HERITAGE not hate!

YOUR ancestors may have fought during the civil war but YOU did not! The confederate flag will forever be a symbol of slavery. Burn it and be quiet.

First off, this isn't new. This has been going on for a while. You need to understand your herritage a little better before you go off ranting like this.

First, the confederate flag represents the confederacy. It is a civil war flag, and no matter how much you want to argue, one of the main reasons why the civil war was fought was over slavery. And last time I checked, no slave WANTED to be a slave. The meaning of the confederate flag is tainted because it was always a war flag, but after that, it was seen as a symbol of rebellion and a symbol of hatred because it is used by hate groups such as the KKK.

As you said, no people now are not slaves. However, you didn't fight in the civil war either. You really need to stop and look at this from other angles. Look at the country of Germany. During WWII it was divided. A symbol of that division was the swastika. For the United States, a symbol of our divison is that confederate flag. The south isn't a country, we are part of the United States and we need to act United. Germany doesn't fly the Swastika and say "we are proud of our herritage". Why do we?

And, by the way, before you jump to conclusions about me. I am a white southern woman born and raised in Mississippi. My pride isn't tied to a flag. A flag is a piece of cloth.

you lost the war , but you you still want to pride victory by flying your flag of something that was lost. , Freedom and slavery are two different things , but you still want to fly the Flag of slavery, this is not right , bring the flag down , yes .I'm white, and I don't think it's right to even put it on a license tag or wear it on the front of a car or truck that represents slavery, that is against Abraham Lincoln and the rest of us Americans.
Take a vote on the flag all over the USA and lets forget about this heritage bull crap.
This is why All industry has gone to china if you sum up your history. and have common sense to go along with it.

It is only OK for you to be racist if you are a minority.

Even though the rebel flag is not racist, Jesse Jackson has added a new amendment to the constitution: the right to not be offended. The rebel flag violates that right for black people.

wow finally some one who agrees with me. today my teacher who is black was trying to make some of us southerners feel bad or something. i got up and read the definition of rebel and confederate out loud to the class, and he tried to twist every word. so i told him i am gonna go do research and bring it in. a lot of people just believe what they want with out actually knowing the facts. but i am as southern as you can get and proud of it. and all this mess about the confederate flag standing for us wanting to keep the slaves didnt start until people started noticing that the KKK was flying it. but the war is over so people need to shut up and let us keep our pride. so you are a southern boy huh?

i think the same reason why people want to disregard the term "African American" we dont need to be divided. we as Americans should be one people, one name and one flag. that is the theory anyway
