An Emachine is a brand of computer (like Dell, Compaq, Acer, etc.) They tend to be a budget brand, so they are made with less expensive (and more prone to fail) components. Even if the specs look the same (processor speed, processor type, amount of RAM, hard drive size, hard drive RPM, etc.) there is normally some variance that you don't see that causes the Emachine to have a lower price. For example, many budget computers use lower quality power supplies that are often prone to failure and can take other components of you computer with them if they fail. The RAM speed will probably be slower then other computers. The hard drive will probably be slower/ have less cache/ less reliable then more expensive computers. The motherboard will probably be a value model and have less expansion ports and be less reliable then other computers. You get the point. My personal advice is to stay away from budget brands like Emachines.

an e-machine is a brand of pc. It is owned by Gateway and is pretty much their lowest line of product. They are not the greatest machines, but so long as you are not doing gaming or video editing you should be alright.
