By any measure, be it economic strength, political clout, scientific achievement, freedom to express ideas, and optimism, America is not in decline.

Horrible trade agreements such as NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT, outsourcing of jobs, offshoring, importing H1-Bs from India & China to work white-collar jobs, money spent on Iraq of 3 billion a week which could go to build up our infrastructure, the tearing down of our military and our standing army alone is depleted, illegal immigration mainly from Mexico, bad decisions and bad policies from the top on down.
I think they said on the news that for the first time since 1932 that America has entered a negative (-1) saving rate. Families are dipping into their savings to pay for expensive education and health care and expensive bills. I know my TXU electric bill was 300.00 and I just about cried. Not to mention that for the first time in the history of this country that we are seeing a decline in the number of kids enrolling in college....unprecedented and never happened before. So the bad policies come at the top. Lack of vision, lack of planning...only the rich make it these days. The middle class pays the price!

Yes. Most Americans are clueless about what's really going on.
If you haven't seen the movie Freedom To Fascism it's available through http://www.freedomtofascism.com
You should also go to http://www.ronpaulexplore.com and encourage Congressman Paul to run for President.
Next year Americans will have to carry a National ID card and the law also states that RFID chips will be put into your Drivers' License so big brother can keep tabs on your wherever you go. It's all about control and most Americans have utterly no clue as to what's coming down the pike.
The fact is that the Federal Reserve is a privately owned corporation. It's the single most profitable business in the world. At the average Americans expense.
The truth is there is no law requiring you to pay a personal income tax. But millions of Americans are willingly allowing the IRS to extort money from them without knowing what the law says.

No there is no reason to think that as there are not indicators of that. The news media is a negative operation who usually reports the negative so it would be easy for people to think that the US is in decline. Its a "Henny Penny" situation where we have the news media reporting what Dem politicians say so people will be alarmed and vote negatively which is how Dem Presidents are elected. The US population is very poorly served by journalists but we seem to be OK by all other indicators.

It depends on who you ask. Conservatives will look at the economy and say everything is going well (and it is). Democrats will remember that Bush is in control and come up with excuses as to why we are in decline.

Yes, ever since the American people refused to see that the government was responsible for 9-11...then came Homeland Security(that's not for terrorists...that's for us)...and then the all mighty Patriot Acts. Now we have the North American Union...with the building of the Trans-Texas Corridor and NASCO. Don't forget the concentration camps all ready for those of us who refuse to comply.
Zero summed it up quite nicely!

We're going to Hell in a Handbasket, economically and governmentally. Socially, too many people want to blame "the other guy" for their own bad behavior and actions.
However, the American people themselves are a resiliant bunch. We'll get sick of paying for our jobs to go overseas. We'll get sick of the government stealing our work. We'll get sick of spoiled brats running the show in our every day lives. Then we'll push back, and everything will right itself again.
We just need to grow up and stop asking the government to do our pushing for us.

Yes.
Economy is slowing down
And political stance is becoming corrupt
This is just like all the other great nations and empires in history. These are the few signs before a drastic fall.
