'The' is a definate article - both sentences are correct - but when you use the definate article 'the' you mean to be more assertive of your grade - the first sentence is a casual type.

Both are correct. I believe "d" u meant is "THE".
"THE" is used to specify something which is important. Probably for the sentence u mentioned "I am in 9th grade" is only correct because when u say "I am in the 9th grade" is shows as though U r in a place called 9th grade.

'I am in 9th grade' is a correct way of saying it.
If the second one is meant to read 'I am in the 9th grade', that would also be correct.
As it is the sentence with the 'd' is incorrect
