Most likely yes.... Most DVD burners are capable of burning a cd as well. Try using Nero software.

However , the answer could be no b/c we have no idea what kind of equipment you have.

Hmmm... I specifically remember when setting up my last PC (A Toshiba with Windows XP) that it asked me to choose between using my drive as a DVD burner or as a CD-R drive, so at least in some cases there may be some kind of hardware conflict preventing you from using the drive both ways. I also remember reading in the instructions that the choice could be reversed later through either the control panel or via a Toshiba setup application. Sorry I don't recall more details, but perhaps if you look on the website of your PCs manufacturer you can see more information...

Absolutely. Burners are backwards compatible. Even the HD or Blu-Ray burners are supposed to be able to burn regular DVDs and CDs.

yes. there should be no problems. Basically a DVD-burner is just a cd burner hopped up.
