Giggly's answer is right on target. There's too much to mention for a short answer forum like this. How about a little thought about one passage.

In Gen 2:18 God recognized man's incompletion, so he said, "...I will make a helper suitable for him." For the majority of the Christian era Christians understood "helper" to mean servant or inferior. However, a quick investigation of how this word is used in the rest of the Old Testament reveals that the one helping is always greater than the one in need of help. The term is used of God when He stoops down to help people in their time of need. In other words, the woman's being a "helper" for the man does not connote an inferior status or role. Rather, like God helps from a superior position, so the woman was created with things the man needed. When properly applied, a woman's status is so special that Peter advises husbands to honor them with great care as one would a prized possession (not that women are possessions, but men can relate to taking care of their possessions, so Peter used this as an analogy for how precious wives should be considered by their husbands).

True, the Bible has been frequently misquoted to support patriarchal abuses that God never intended, but God values women in scripture, so we should too. Thanks for asking.

its not the bible you need, it is a good kick in the back side, woman have every right a man has she can vote and by the way women or men did not vote in the bible it does say beware of politicians and lawyers but it doesn't say go out and vote for them. that is a man given right, a woman has every right to half of what is hers and yours she works as hard or harder than a man she cleans, cooks, raises the children, takes care of the older kid (her husband) and laundy, shopping, pays bills, goes to all doctor, dentist, attorney, tax appointments to mention a few, makes sure everyone keeps their appointments, makes sure everyone is feed, clothed, clean, honest, etc and on top of all this she has the time to go to her job, be a friend, a lover and a mom so yes she is entitled to half if not more. A womans rights that is so funny men today make more money for doing a better job than men, look at a CEO and I bet you will find a woman as his assistant because they can't do it without us they can only take the credit and then hollar about us having rights lol, I have to laugh because I can't believe in this day and age that anyone would ask this kind of question.

Women don't have the right to inheritance in the Bible. They didn't have voting back then. Women are seen as a curse upon man and are treated like soulless beings. They are to be silent in church and don't have the right to an education. They're not supposed to speak unless spoken to. Most women are seen as the sole reason Adam was kicked out of the Garden of Eden. They are all seen as bearing that guilt and sin and are all seen as an Eve.

It doesn't matter, and hasn't for a very long time. The bible was written by men who were targeting a society of people who were in no way anything like people in today's society. The teachings of God & Jesus are timeless, but societal issues are largely moot. If they weren't, we would still be people to death!

Woman are woman they do what they need to do to take care of the family, just like the man. But the woman should submit if push comes to shuv and worry about the children and caring for her man. That is if the man isn't cheating or being violent

While we must admit that some men throughout history have pointed to Scripture verse to justify their fallen desire to dominate women, St Paul is in no way justifying such an attitude. He knows it to be a result of sin (See Gn 3:16), which is why in this passage he's actually restoring God's original plan before wrong doings. He does so by pointing out what marriage was all about in the first place. It was meant to foreshadow the marriage of Christ and the Church (all Christians). St Paul simply draws out the implications of this analogy.

He starts by calling both husbands and wives to "be subjective to one another' out of "reverence for Christ" - out of reverence for the "great mystery" that spouses participate in by imaging Christ’s union with the Church. In analogy, the husband represents Christ, and the wife represents the Church (All Christians). So, he says, as the Church (all Christians) is subject to Christ, so should wives be subject to their husbands.

Another translation uses the word "submission." I like to explain this word as follows. "Sub" means "under," and "mission" means "to be sent forth with the authority to perform a specific service". Wives, then, are called to put themselves under the mission of their husbands.

What's the mission of the husband? "Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her". How did Christ love the Church? He died for her. Christ said he came "not to be served but to serve" and to lay down his life for his Bride

Not so great. That is until the latter pages where Paul states that there is no longer distinction between slave and free, man and woman.
