It 'normally' takes place in the oviduct or fallopian tube. The ovum having been released from the ovary is generally fertilised en route for the uterus. This is why there can be incidents of ectopic pregnancy, where the fertilised egg embeds itself in the lining of the tube rather than the lining of the unterus.

c) the oviduct
Dear, the fertilization normally takes place in oviduct, also called the fallopian tubes.
then this fertillized egg/ovum called zygote moves to the body of the uterus and implants on the uterine wall.
The term ectopic pregnancy is the result of implantation being taken place at an abnormal site, especially the ovaries.
Each month the ovary releases an ovum (the egg cell),
if it is not fertillized, as in unmarried girls, it sheds away, what u call menses.
if it is fertillized, by a sperm (deposited in a girl's body, after a male discharges after intercourse, as in married girls), the conception takes place, and the girl does not have menses then upto the baby's delivery.
i have written this in short but comprehensive.
hope that answers your question.
thanks.

c) the oviduct
after conception as the egg begans to increase in size, it will embed itself in the wall of the uterus due to amount of protein and iron there.
the wall of the uterus is basically a blood bank.
it stores blood every month so when a baby is conceived it has a wealthy amount of protein.iron to survive and grow.
if a baby isnt conceived the blood leaves the system, this is usually known as a period or menstruation.

It's the Oviduct. The uterus is only where a fertilized embryo will eventually implant. It's fertlized before it gets there.
