Yes, because as you grow older and don't sweat the small stuff any longer, you realize what that saying, "truth is stranger than fiction" means. There is real horror and it is committed by mean spirited, greedy people on other human kind.

good luck & bless

Definitely, certain people, a small number, as they grow old, will develop a condition called dementia. Not all forms of dementia cause feelings of horror but certain kinds will cause the sufferer to hear voices that are not real and often these voices will say things that will cause feelings of terror within the person suffering the dementia. The dementia is what causes the patient the inability to distinguish the 'voices' they hear from reality vs. non-reality, often resulting in the horror effect. There is a drug sometimes used by physicians called Zyprexa which helps these symptoms decrease or disappear completely. The use of this drug for that particular condition has not been approved by the FDA due to the possibility of certain side effects I could get into but will not here. Physicians do have the authority to prescribe this drug for this reason if they believe the benefits outweigh the risks.

Yes, I am in my 40's and was still shocked and horrified by the movie "Hostel" as it seemed very realistic. I will admit that I did visit Europe 20+ years ago and the that does have a bearing on my barometer of reality, but sadly, in 3rd world countries, people will sell out another human being (even their own children sometimes) for money.

Another factor is because you are no longer a teen and feel in control, but have teen children, it can even be more real because you worry it could happen to them. A good example would be "Last House On The Left"...creepy enough when you are younger, but scarier once you become a parent and imagine the teen girls in that movie could be your child.

Sure - the director and actors just have to work that little bit harder.
