My two best friends asked me to look after their two cats for two weeks whilst on holiday which i have done many times before, this time however they got drunk and took other substances the night before and the male partner hid his £8000 Rolex in the house, upon their return he can't find it. The house is huge and on t3 floors and the watch could be anywhere, he asked me igf i had let anybody in whilst they were away and of course I hadn't. His wife just called me and let slip that next time they go away the cats go into a cattery, he still can't find the watch but hasn't been sober enough and was off his face last night looking for it. Am I being over sensitive about this because i get the feeling he doesn't trust me anymore and I want to give them the keys back which I have had for 4 years and never go in the house again.

If they are truly your best friends you should be able to talk with them about it. You are right to feel the way you do and you need to tell them. We lost keys way down in the side of a chair that ended up going into the bottom of the chair and missing for over a year! Ask if you can help them look for the watch (Look in every spot imaginable!) and offer again to watch the cats since it would be a shame for them to pay some stranger who cares nothing about the cats when you can do it. If they still refuse to let you watch the cats then offer the keys you have since you won't be needing them. Good Luck! =)

Sounds like they are abusing your friendship also. I would politely return the keys and say although you wish to remain friends with them, you feel that house-sitting should be a no-no from now on. I would feel awkward about the rolex myself but obviously they do not seem able to account for their own actions - return the keys and say ' just to be on the safe side, because you value their friendship' (cannot understand why if they are so out of it on illegal substances), are you indeed seeing their true friendship. Good Luck but do return the keys - it may be something else next.

you should go over their house and talk to them ...tell them about what happened the night before they went on hols ...they should know u now after 4 years u are looking after their house , if not , well they are no best friends and u cant do anything to prove them wrong till they find the watch !

i can imagine how u feel but dont let this put u down this much ! i am sure that the truth will come out soon !

best wishes and good luck x

They are practically accusing you of stealing the watch or allowing someone in who stole it. Yes, return the keys and don't ever associate with them again.

follow your gut feeling, they might just take the keys or they may really make you feel like they want you to keep them!
