Heck no... Google the history of the Betty Ford clinic and look at celebs from days past that were in there. As for DUIs... they are people too and have a drink, then act stupid and drive. No different from you or I. Also, as you asked... I don't think the set out to get a DUI thinking its "the thing to do". However, examine your question a bit and think outside the box on this one... maybe the real question should be Why do we care so much when a celeb does this yet nobody cares about your poor uncle Frank who checked in to rehab or got a DUI. Simply put... Americans are bored, concerned about the wrong things, and need a hero they can believe in one day then trash the next.

Oh no, it's not new at all. When a failing talentless actor or singer needs attention re-hab has been an effective way to get it for a little over a decade now. Lindsay Lohan, Charlie Sheen, Courtney Love, that dude who called Lindsay Lohan a 'fire-crotch' and now Britney Spears. Not all of the people who use this as an attention seeking ploy are talentless, but all of them want attention and know that if they pretend they're getting help they will get what they really want, which is for people to notice them again.

Apparently. Now if all these celebs would take the money they're spending on rehab and booze.....and give it to worthwhile causes, there could be a cure for cancer, diabetes, AIDS....oh heres a worthy cause.....the HOMELESS in the USA.....

But, noooooo...that'd be too easy....instead we, as the watchers of all this crap......get to hear how awful their lives are and listen to their *cries for help*.........Pattttooooooeeey!

Put yourself in the spotlight, you're going to be watched.....

Freaking crybabies, I'm sooo sick of it!

I think rehab is a way to get their name back in the publics eye and look for sympathy from us.

Haha no, they're not new. It's an ancient tradition passed on from celebrity to celebrity. Apparently the new thing is to shave your head and screw up your kids. or adopt...
