The salt, the oil and the crisp. And basically because its a convenient, over-tasty, cheap, fingerfood.

A recent study suggests that people are born with natural cravings for either sweet or salty foods--I realize many people enjoy both, but there seems to be evidence showing a natural predliction for one of the other. I'm SO with you fries--the BEST salty treat. So good, in fact, that I've create the perfect recipe for a crispy, salty batch in your own home--better than any fast food fry you can buy!

I've been wondering about that one myself to be honest! But, it seems that a load of people seem to love them. Think it's the fat and mostly the salt. People think that sugar is addicting, but in fact the body needs salt. people have a tendency to put a lot of salt or ketcup on fries. Ketcup has a lot of salt, too. So, a lot of it is probably the salt craving, under just the love of the taste of the fries. The body is strange, it knows what it needs.

I love McDonald's French fries...they're crispy and great! I've been told that What-a-Burger makes even better fries. Some people find In-and-Out making better fries too.

when we cook food, we change it, chemically. If we cook it until it is scorched (french fries, toast, cheese on pizza) we change it to a very large number of different chemical compounds (perhaps hundreds of different chemical compounds) Each of our taste buds tastes only one thing. A very wide variety of chemical compounds causes every single one of our taste buds to tingle.
