Nation is formed by the people as nature is formed by the habits.

Artificial nations are generally bound throug one weak single thread and ultimately end up breaking such as Pakistan broke into Bangladesh and Pakistan or the USSR broke into various nations. Same way natural nations even when divided forcibly reunite with time. For example, the Germany or the merger of Kashmir, Goa, Pondicherry and Sikkim into India.

In addition to what has been said above, I'd like to add that "nation"
is a concept of the western world that creates problems in other regions of the world, such as in Africa, where some borders cut through tribal territories, thus separating members of the same tribe from each other while joining them with other tribes they might be at unfriendly terms with.Furthermore, it doesn't work very well with nomadic tribes either.
In short, it works with rather homogenous populations that share common beliefs and languages. It fails when tribal structures exist which make people rather believe in tribal than governmental authority or when the population is very heterogenous.

A nation is an area where the people feel a unity of purpose or have one forced upon them so that they look to a central government for protection from outside and from differences within the defined borders.
A number of places we now consider nations, such as Germany, Itally, and India referenced in another of your questions, were created from smaller pieces that were not considered nations because they did not or could not provide for external defense, but were ruled under a feudal or tribal tradition of personal loyalty to leadership.
Nationhood in Italy came about from internal uprising, in Germany by marriage and conquering of adjacent minor kingdoms and in India by external conquerers who wanted a safer business environment.
In Africa and Iraq, we are now seeing the consequences of nations collapsing into tribal loyalties again.
