In the US, there isn't a Liberal party like in Europe, people use the word Liberal to refer the Democrats. There's a much smaller variety of political parties here than in Europe, and any parties other than the biggest two get very very little support. Liberal with a capital L is generally used in a semi-insulting way against people who are in favor of Democrat positions. Liberal with a lower case L; what you'll find in a dictionary; is almost the complete opposite, and is used to refer to the idea of letting people have the most freedom from government, and more along the lines of our Libertarian party.
Similarly, people almost exclusively use Conservative to refer to Republicans. By using Liberal and Conservative, it's possible for news commentators to basically argue against a significant portion of Democrats rather than argue against the party itself, which may officially hold a different stance depending on their party leaders.

Democrat is just another word for a liberal with very "few" exception in this country today. Liberal means, without moral valves or any kind of ethics. They do not believe they should be held accountable for "anything". They base life itself on "I thing", "I feel", "that's not fair", or "it's good enough". Whatever type of lifestyle I live that's "good enough" because I'm over 21. And if I'm not over 21, so what.
A great illustration of their typical fork-tongue attitude is, the issue on abortion and the war. They are against the war because it kills people. However, they claim they don't see anything wrong with abortion. So to justify their beliefs, they claim the baby to be less than a human (or a soul) by proclaiming it "only" to be a fetus. Since liberals are only self-centered, the baby is an inconvenience and they have it killed off. When one considers that liberals are the ones proclaiming to be pro-choice, why are they so much against the baby having a choice in the matter? Therefore proving that the liberals are not as much for choice as they claim to be.
Liberals hate the military because you are indeed held accountable. Because it has a code of conduct. Yet, you have a choice to try to join it. (We don't have the draft anymore.) But joining the military is not base on rights. Which is another reason why liberals hate it. Again, liberals only concern with "I think", "I feel".
This is just a very small part of all the reasons why America doesn't need nor want liberalism or humanism and why the word "liberal" is treated as a 4-letter word. "If you hate America, vote for a democrat."

Liberals keep talking about the 'new America' as if the America of the last 230 years were meaningless. Yet, as I wonder what a new America would look like, all I see is that they coddle terrorists, bow to the UN, go to Europe and blast our country and president, and seek to turn Iraq into a Vietnam/Cambodia killing field.
I grew up in America when people were tough. They weren't afraid of saying what was on their mind. They worked hard. America was proud to be strong. We were the 'good guys'.
In just a few years, we became a nation of insipid weaklings who fawn over the likes of Anna Nichole Smith and Brittany Spears, we have replaced statutes of individuals with 'reflecting ponds', The politicians we vote for make Mr. Rogers look like John Wayne. Victory has become something to fear. To American liberals, the old America are the bad guys.
If this transformation is a preview, then I do not want the new America. I despise those who do.

I don't hate liberals, so long as they follow traditional liberalism. Martin Luther King Jr was known as a liberal, but now he would be known as a progressive. (He's actually one of my favorite recent historical figures, and I'm slightly right of center on social issues.)
There is NOTHING wrong with being progressive. However, liberalism has come to represent not the GOOD in society, but the bad.
This isn't the fault of the average liberal. It's the fault of people like Cindy Sheehan, Michael Moore, and Nancy Pelosi, the extremists in the group.
There is nothing wrong with conservatives OR liberals. We simply believe differently. The fact of the matter is, though, that it isn't just the "right" that hates or misunderstands the "left"; the "left" hates or at least misunderstands the "right" as well. AND it's really only a minority that does any hating at all.
For the record, I share ideals with both, but consider myself to be mostly conservative.

Liberals always take the point of view that the US is a flawed country run by evil people who are racist sexist, and homophobic. Liberals believe the US isn't a fair country and that strange conspiracies control the people. They believe that companies that make a profit are cheating somehow. They believe that international institutions should be more trusted then the government elected by our own citizens. Liberals never let the facts get in the way of things that fit their agenda. At no time will liberals praise the US for any good work unless that good work has no positive effect on the US. It is not so much hate as it is pity. Liberals constantly seek to reinvent the wheel by proposing solutions to problems that run counter to human nature. Things contrary to human nature are doomed to fail.

The entire Liberal/Conservative thing is a media fixation and they just report on remarks from the political extremes. In fact, the US media only reports on freakish people and things because that is the level of journalism. Real news is much harder to find and it is not part of the popular culture. However, you need to understand that the US is a moderate country with the overwhelming majority of people living near the political center, most a little left on social issues, a little to the right on national security and the economy. Except for celebrity types, who really are just uninformed idiots and journalists who treat political news as a distant second to Brittany's haircut and Anna Nicoles weight issues, the rest of the country is moderate. The political extremes, left and right, X each other out in elections and leave people wondering how could Bush be elected when its clear that movie stars don't like him. In fact, millions of Democrats (often misconstrued to being liberal) crossed party lines and voted Bush in TWICE. It takes millions of Dem voters to elect a Republican President and it has happened a lot in the past couple decades. I am a Democrat, live in one of the most Dem states in the USA, and yet our stated voted twice for Bush. The only time the state voted for a Repub before WWII. Examples. Abortion is seen as a liberal issue and most think that since conservatives have been in power it would be changed and yet abortion has not been outlawed or curtailed. Gun ownership, mostly identified with the right wing, and yet under Clinton little was done to curtail gun ownership and police power expanded under legislation called the COPS Bill. Both are examples of reality flying in the face of popular views of lib/conser. Much of the confusion over lib/conser comes from the news media which is a trainwreck when faced with the truth or actual reporting. Our news is about style, personalities and not facts. But our elections show that people vote moderate, the right and left are just barking dogs who make noise and nothing else. Hope this helps.

I'm a liberal and I can say that the word "liberal" probably became an epithet around the time of the Reagan administration. I think that the reason why it became an epithet is because it has often been associated by conservatives with hippies, progressive college professors, and others who support legislation they don't agree with.

I don't know if I would say I hate them, only that they perplex me with views that simply boggle my mind in their disconnect from reality. Liberals feel, they do not think. They consider the most heinous word in the English language to be "unfair". They are more concerned with appearances than with reality. They have absolutely no concept of fundamental economics. They do not believe in personal responsibility, preferring to suck at the governmental teat. They do not believe in capitalism or the free market because it's "unfair" (there's that word again!). They do not believe in national defense. They feel George W. Bush is a greater threat to world peace and stability than is Osama bin Laden. Last but not least, many are conspiracy theory whackos.

I don't hate liberals. The beautiful part of this country is the freedom to express ones views, no matter how nonsensical they are.
However, you should ask liberals why they hate the United States of America so much.

I don't have anything against liberals. My parents are liberals.
I just don't think their ideologies are what is best for the country.
I can't speak for many of those spreading hate on this site though.
