The reality is, that it depends on which part of Brisbane you wish to live in. Naturally, closer to the city or with water not too far away, you will pay up to $400-$500 dollars per week or possibly more! North Brisbane suburbs such as Aspley, Chermside, Strathpine etc and further west you'll be paying cheaper rents around the $200-$250 per week mark. Check and see on the net which suburbs have what you are looking for, entertainment, shopping etc. Chermside is affordable and has a huge shopping centre with cinemas etc in it and a short train ride into the city. I don't live there, but I have just returned from a holiday up there with my brother who lives in Strathpine. Redcliffe is a gorgeous suburb on the bay with lots of old Queenslander style housing but I don't know what the rental market is like. Good luck, hope I have helped!! Be warned that there is no chance of you finding anywhere except maybe a dog kennel for $500 a month!!! Double it and add it bit more and you'll be closer to the mark!!

You should try www.realestate.com.au

It will take to you the rentals available and then you can figure out what you can afford.

I hear that Norman Park is a nice place to live.
