my husband used to have what he called "knots" where the surgery had been done. Now, as of 2 months ago my husband has told me that those knots have gone away. Would that be a sign that it has healed itself?

A vasectomy is based on the theory that when scarred, the body will produce scar tissue. The tubes between the penis and the testicals are blocked with stitches, and that irritation causes scar tissue to build up in the tubes, completely stopping the flow of sperm from point A to point B.

What he felt was probably scar tissue, and as time goes by that scar tissue gets surrounded by more tissue and matter, making it less hard.

It would be INCREDIBLY unlikely that his body some how removed that scar tissue and repaired the tubes. That generally is nearly impossible to do completely by surgery, let alone by some fluke function of the body, its just not something our bodies naturally do, especially in the case of a vasectomy.

If he's very concerned he can call his doctor and have his sperm count checked, to make sure there are no swimmers. :)

I don't think it came undone. My hubby had a vasectomy almost 2 yrs ago and it is pretty permanent. If he's really concerned, he may want to go to dr to have it checked out but I bet it's okay. I think his body just healed itself (but not back together). How long ago was the vas done? Has he had a recent sperm count? That's probably what the dr will do first.

Signs of it coming undone? Getting pregnant. If you are concerned, send him to the urologist for a sperm count. That will lay your fears to rest.

Yeah, it's just the swelling has gone down. Vasectomies are pretty darn permanent. Lucky for you!!!

They usually cut and burn the tubes so I doubt that it has come undone.
