Where can I buy mice for my snake....I live in Johannesburg in the Highlands North area. Where is the closest pet store that will sell mice and that will be open after 4pm on Fridays... Thx alot!

was in Alex (the township) last weekend, saw a rat the size of a well fed cat!!!
do you think you're snake might like a bit more meat/food?
otherwise, i'm not sure where in highlands, coz i doubt Balfour has a pet shop... 2nd guess would be Sandton or the bruma flea market...otherwise you'd just have to go further up Louise botha... hope you feed your corn snake soon

Can't help you find one right away Motti, but I can give you advice in the long term. You can breed your own mice. All you need is a big (empty) aquarium tank, wood shavings to cover the tank floor and a couple of males and females (mice, of course). Feed them bird seed in a big upside-down jar top and, of course, water. You'll be amazed how fast they breed.
I bred mice and fed the snakes and other reptiles we had in the terraria of the zoology museum (Ellermann centre) at Stellenbosch uni.
What kind of snake do you have?

Motti shish first of all i am pretty sure all pet shops sell mice for snakes. Where the closest one is to you i am not sure, look in our good 'ol Yellow Pages. I never had a problem getting mice when i had snakes.

Just go to someone's house and find some under the fridge or behind chairs, etc! hahaha...I guess you could find the nearest pet shop. Don't shops usually stay open till 5pm or something? Poor mice...sorry if this answer wasn't helpful!=)

EDIT: hey motti, if you'd come sooner...like a year sooner (oh no, wait...if you asked this in 2005, I could've helped you!)...this one chic in my school used to find rats and mice, etc. in her yard (or other places) and breed them. She had like a whole rat farm going on! What a pity you got your snake 2 years later! peace, dude! hahaha
