My story is set in the early Victorian era.
There is a 19 year old girl named Anne. Since she was a child, she was teased often because of her mother, who was rather too spirited, too honest...just a woman far from being a conventional lady. ANyways, Anne's father hated Anne's mother, and Anne, though she loved her mother, was embarrassed of her.
Anne was born a spirited and romantic girl, but because of having witnessed people treating her mother inferiorly, Anne has suppressed her true character and hid behind a social mask. So, my question is, how would she act in public? Would she be shy, perhaps? Or cold and always composed? And how can I show in my story of how inconvenient it is to act like the lady you are not? And what can the problems me that she comes across due to her having suppressed her true character?

Be creative ;)

She would be ultra-feminine. Speaks only when spoken to, a gracious host, stays out of mens’ discussions (even though she probably knows better than the men talking).

She may lose the love of her life because she is too agreeable. He would rather have a wife who would challenge him intellectually.

how would she act in the public? - quiet, obedient girl, put in a nasty stepdad that punish everything she does and the girl would cry when the old ruffian isn't around. put in some emotion explain to the reader how she felt via the girl's narration.

and how...it is to act like tha lady you are not? - create character "A" and have the girl reveal / express her natural characters through reaction and interactions with the character "A" only. but with others the girl would be quiet as a kitten. Use the girl to narrate (tell) the story from time to time, introducing readers the characters, objects, place etc thru her. if you want, throw in a stray, pitiful looking and injured or hungry kitten found by the girl character. describe by the girl's narration how she felt toward the poor kitten (boo-hoo-hoo) and how she plan to keep it without telling her stepdad. and blah-blah-blah :-D

Most people live behind a mask of pleasantness, and hide their devious and hateful nature. In your case you may want to consider a woman that is very defensive, and refuses to let anyone get too close to her for fear she may end up being made fun of just like her mother.

This really depends on where you want to take the story though.

Good luck!
