Yes she can have paracetamol but only paracetamol, make sure there's she doesn't have any other cold or flu products as they contain aspirin which thins blood and isn't good for the baby.

The recommended dosage is 500mg.

If the cold persists for longer than a week she will need to see a doctor just to be on the safe side.

Hope this helps.

I have yet to understand why people ask these types of questions on a site like this or any other. A professional is the only one who can safely say what you can and cannot take. Unless there are Doctors on this yahoo site, why take chances on getting the wrong answers from ordinary people who probably know less than you? Everyone has an OB/GYN, consult them. I can call my Doctor anytime and ask him what I need to know, if he is not available, I can always leave a message and he gets in contact with me right away. If you cannot wait, usually a pharmacist will give you some good information, but even they tell you it's best to consult your Physician.

yes she can. I got told paracetamol is OK. Just call the midwife too and let her know so she can agree with your decision or not. Your wife should have a number for them. She should have a midwife's on call number if she cannot get hold of her Midwife or just call the maternity ward at your local hospital and ask for advice. They will be happy to give it.
Hope your wife feels better soon and good luck with the rest of your wife's pregnancy!!

I am pregnant with my 3rd and YES you can take paracetamol, just not anything else. You DO NOT have to consult the doctor.
Unlike what others are saying. Good luck i hope she feels better soon.

Yes normal paracetamol is fine just nothing stronger or none of these cold relief tablets!

Stick to recommended dose on packet.

If you are worried or she has any medical conditions which you think may effect / or be effected by it then just ask your local pharmacy.

Hope this helps x

Paracetamol is the only pain relief a pregnant woman can take.

The best thing for the baby is not to take anything. She can use a saline solution to aspirate her nasal passage. ANY decongestant is bad for the baby.

As long as it is only a cold, just take of vitamin C and ZInc to shorten the span of the cold. And make sure she is taking her prenatals.

when i was pregnant (last year) i was told on a few occasions by my midwife that it was totally fine to take parcetemol, but not to take any of ther other cold medicines (eg lemsip, beechams etc). I guess there is something in those that isn;t good for baby but it's not the paracetemol, that's fine.
The best thing for her cold is hot water with lemon!

Paracetamol is a very powerful drug. She should avoid ingesting the drug if possible. Try albas oil inhalations or menthol crystal inhalations as an alternative. There is no cure for a cold, merely temporary relief.
