what I meant are stones that can be found anywhere, not the expensive ones.

You don't use stone to polish a sword, only to sharpen. To polish you will need some kind of oil. Go to sca.org, they will probably have a link on sword care.

To go the cheap route, find some sandstone. Be sure to use water to lubricate the stone. That will get your sword sharp. To polish it you will need a good metal polish available at any better hardware store or knife shop.

stones are used to sharpen a sword or knife you would want to polish your sword with a polish of some kind a roghe for stainless steel if your looking for sharpening stones you can find them at a knife shop . ive never heard of a polishing stone all stones will scratch the metal finish

hmmm very intresting questions Unfortunley I do not no the answer to this Im guessing It would be a a mineral not no ordinary rock. Try looking into minerals.

Perhaps a Whetstone? They can be bought at any store that sells customized knives and sometimes at harware stores.
