Hello,
I found out last night that a small leak is occurring on the baseboard heating I have. The leak is a slow drip and is coming from the "control box". The "control box" is what I believe to be where the thermostat controls the amount of heat.
I don't have any knowledge when it comes to baseboard heating. But would like to know if this is something minor and if I could fix myself or do I need to call in a tech?
I'm totally in the dark about baseboard heat.

Thanks.

Determine exactly where the leak is. If it is at a threaded connection, you can probably take it apart, clean the threads, apply teflon tape or thread sealant, and re-assemble. If it is a soldered connection, you will have to heat the connection with a torch, dis-assemble, clean all the old solder off the pipe and the hub, and re-solder. If the leak is in a section of pipe or in a component, you will have to replace that particular item. Whatever the fix is, the system needs to be drained below the level of the leak, then re-filled when the repair is done. It would probably be best to have a licensed plumber or heating contractor do it.

It sounds like a leak at the zone valve. You would need to call a tech in on that one. If its a small leak dont hurry as techs are very busy this time of year and apt to charge more for a service call right now.

Is it sweat or steam?---go to your fuse box and cut off main switch for 5 min and then turn back on.
It just may need resetting.
leak---use tefflon tape for any leaks, works well.
