Get a thermometer and set in fridge- adjust temp guage on fridge until the food is the temp its supposed to be.

Most folks think the higher the setting , the better it runs, but the lower the setting is your best bet.
Set it on 3. If foods dont seem too cold on 3, try 5.
Mine runs well on 3.

Factory settings are most efficient. If you stated what brand and model it was i could tell you what the factory settings are.
