I've got to give in a dissertation early May and I haven't started it yet and I really don't want to leave it any longer. I just can get into the frame of mind or come up with an interesting question. It's for Digital Media BA and it needs to be along the Philosophical/Technological/Sociological/Political lines (e.g: How has modern media detached us from reality? or How has digiatal media contributed to ethnic cleansing?)

Any help on any aspect would be appreciated.

Whilst I normally frown a bit on 'homework' type questions, I disagree with those who've said that's what this is - it's not like we're going to be writing the whole dissertation, after all! We're just contributing to a discussion, which is fair enough.

Am I right in guessing that your course involves a practical element of Digital Media, as well as written work? If so, then I'd suggest you try to link your dissertation in some way to your practice-based work. If you can develop a link between theory and practice it helps strenghten your work in both areas, and means that research you do for your dissertation informs your practical work, and vice versa. Plus, it's likely to interest you more and engage your attention. Obviously since I don't know what your work is like, I can't tell you what your dissertation should be about! But try listing issues that might be raised by your work, and see what comes up.

Good luck!

I can't help much with the topic, but in terms of motivation. I found that I needed to get up and get working on it. If I started procrastinating, i.e. I'll just nip to the shop then I'll start, oh I'll just watch this programme on tell, I'll just answer my e-mails, then the day was lost.

Get up, don't fire up the Internet, you'll only end up here!!, quick breakfast, then sit down and use the brain cells.

A topic? How about " Are Internet sites like Yahoo Questions feeding a new addictive behaviour in modern students?"

What about a topic about how the media is manipulated by people in Government via political supporters within the media-- to avoid telling the truth(including lies by ommission) about all aspects of life in this country including political decisions. That was clumsily put but I think it is reasonably clear.

You have to pay some attention to your work, otherwise this will affects on yr graduation and getting the degree!!

Anyway you have a good time from now to start up and u have the Easter break to speed it up as well.

Don’t be lazy prepare a detailed outline e.g 5000 - 7000 words and meet yr supervisor and ask him for developing this work.
