So, as I understand it ...
1. You suspect that the maid is stealing.
2. The maid has been there for two years
3. You are friends with the maid.
My short answer is:
If you, as you say, you are friends with the maid that has been there for two years I would suggest you talk to the maid about the missing money and give the maid a chance to stop on her own.
The above answer depends however on a few things.
1. If you talked to the maid could that cause problems for you?
2. Is your goal to get the stealing stopped, or to get the maid fired?
3. Is whoever you would "tell" understanding?
4. I would especially talk to the maid if "just an allegation" would get her fired.

I would speak to her first and give her a chance to own up. Also if she is the maid, I am sure she comes from a foreign country or a poor family that doesnt need thief on her employment record. That will assure her of a life of hell. So confront her alone since you were intimate with her, then you should care enough about her to be private with the investigation. Good luck and I hope you are dead wrong.

Oh its only a few hundred pounds.... Stuff that, stealing is stealing. None of my friends steal from me - she cant be that good a freind (imo) Call the police, sack the maid, get her locked up. People should not be telling you its ok, she needs locking up.
Theft is theft.

If you like and want to keep her-give her a Heavy hint that money seems to be missing. Say this to her once or twice. Hide a miniature camera to make sure if you want--pointing at some money on a table.

did you caught her in the act? its really hard to pin-point unless you caught her in the act... My yaya has been with us for 20years already and i love her very dearly she's like my super best best friend and she feels the same way too, after all this years she has always remained loyal to us. I don't think your maid or yaya would do such thing... try to investigate more until its a fact that she is really the one stealing, then tell your parents about it.

are you afraid she will lift the lid on you if you report her theft?
if not and your conscience is clear then stop her breaking the law - " a couple of hundred pounds" is money that some people call a very lot!!!

Maybe you should set a trap with a camera or something so you have proof first. Its sneaky but the only way

I think you have to be 101% sure before you report her for stealing. Do you have proof?
If yes...what proof?
