** Very good question **

I am pulling myself out of a hole one day at a time. I have just been through a major trauma that tore my whole world apart. It left me wondering, for the first time in my life, who I really am.
It happened 2 years ago and I am just now starting to see small rays of light again.
A few of the things that have really helped me are;
1) I stopped self medicating "drinking"
2) I give myself some time each day to mourn. I mourn the loss of who I was and it helps me to better understand who I am becoming. This also helps to keep me from walking around feeling sorry for myself all day because I designate a time like 6pm and if I start thinking of things that make me sad I just tell myself, "I'll think about that at 6pm, not right now."
3) I started working out again.
4) I try to look for the good in what I do have right now, not what I might have tomorrow, or what I did have yesterday.

I've started exercising. And I am attempting to eat better. I want to lose weight (somewhere between 30 and 50 pounds) and I realized that I will be more successful by focusing on the next 5 pounds rather than the total weight. So far I'm down 5-7 pounds.

I've also been trying to be more responsible about my finances. Fiscal responsibility is not a lesson I learned from my mom when I was growing up and I've struggled with it through out my adult life. But over the last two years or so I am getting better.

Next thing is to try and develop confidence to talk to women. This is going to be a tough one because I have about zero confidence right now and I have very little access to women in a setting where I can realistically practice. But then again, maybe if I can drop some weight they'll start approaching me.

I'm also trying to put something from my past behind me. It's something I did 20 years ago but I have carried around a lot of guilt ever since.

You know, I'm honestly doing nothing. I'm trying to have a better opinion of myself, but it's not been working lately. However, being with someone who tells me things that are positive every day does help. :)
