You need an Ethernet Card on your PC that might already be there inbuilt otherwise you would have to buy one. They are too cheap nowadays.
Then you need an internet connection that may be Dial Up or DSL whichever you prefer or available to you. DSL will be better option as its faster. For dial up connection you need nothing else while for DSL you need a modem *** router which will be provided you by Service provider. In DSL connection you can use it without having ethernet card as the DSLline from modem *** router can be connected to your PC via USB Cable to your USB port.
For further assistance you can mail me.

You can do what "Guardian" says above, or go to BestBuy and ask how you can hook up to the interenet by going wireless. I found with my cable modem, that when I wanted to put the second one on downstairs, that I'd have to either run wires through the house to the other computer or get a second separate internet service with the same cable company OR go wireless. Wireless is nice...now we have two others for the kids downstairs, one a lap top.

defending on how many computer you have if you have 3 or more you need to have router. but if you only have 2 computer you just need an extra LAN on the computer that is connected on the internet. but if you have a firewire (IEEE1394) both on your computer you can also use for sharing internet while the LAN or MODEM of one of your computer is connected to the net.

You'll need a router for sure. If you want the two computers in different locations, you'll need a WIRELESS router and a WIRELESS network card for the computer that won't be near the plug.

For this you will have to search an Internet service provider. They will give you so many plans. Financially and usability wise you can pick the plan. Rest will be done by (ISP).Internet service provider

verify from your ISP if you have a modem & router combo.if you do then you don't need to purchase anything-you just ask them them to walk you through w/ the set up but if what you have there is just a plain modem then you definitely need to get a router.just follow the router manual for installation.
