speaking as an american here, this is deffinately one of the "grass is greener" situations. it's human nature to want things that are luxurious and expensive because then it's possible to show it off and somehow it makes us feel better. im not going to go into it too far, but the concept of "bling" (i dunno if europeans use the term, it means fancy jewelry and anything else expensive) is entirely founded on this. my guess is you can find people all over the world trying to live more lavish lifestyles in any way they can.

I think americans and europeans prioritize things differently. i think europeans generally spend a lot more money on clothes and such, while americans spend way more on suvs and large homes. in europe, they have such tiny homes and cars. i guess the people just spend their money on different things.
