Logically, it looks possible especially in those cases where the death has been premature, and no significant time has elapsed after death. If it is old age death, or a lot of time has passed after death, it may be much less possible to bring the body back on functioning mode. If a second life is ever to be a possible reality, it can only be done through science and technology.... the major problem though is that we have not yet fully understood what all happens on death and how soon after death and how it all varies with the difference in age of the deceased.
On the other hand, considerable research is going on regarding the phenomenon of aging process and this route may open up the possibility of delaying death in the natural course of time, that is in extending the normal life span. Some people believe that if the breakthrough happens, normal life span could double or even treble.
We would not have achieved all that we have done so far with science and technology, if we ever had believed in anything being impossible or irreversible. This attitude makes science such a powerful tool for us.

as a biologist it is an interesting question. If we look at a unicellular organism then there are profound changes after it's 'death' and these changes are irreversible. Clearly human have many many cels and they don't al decompose at once. Is there a way to get the body going again after death? Maybe, but if one believes in the soul then life isn't only about the heart pumping blood and the electrical impulses travelling through your nervous system. Is there a way to bring the soul back? Who knows? As a scientist I think the only way to find out is to work on the mechanistic aspects of it, namely getting the machine up and running after death, and see what happens to the person that was.
There was a movie called Flatliners that dealt with this topic. I don't know how scientifically sound it was but an interesting movie nonetheless....

May be. I saw a program in Discovery channel where it was told that there is research going on(I don't remember the place) where some people have even registered there names that after their death there bodies(or only head) will be preserved until a way is found to bring death person made alive once again. This can be good. But I think its against law of nature also. N if this technology is developed n it goes in wrong hands it can cause disaster.

When you consider that we still have the common cold, global warming can't be figured out and evolution science keeps evolving with more questions than answers, I wonder how advanced science really is? As far as keeping humans alive, there are dead bodies and frozen head using cryogenics, but the are not preserved properly due to ice crystals that form during the freeze process. So all the frozen people today, most likely can't even be thawed out and be in the same condition as before they were frozen. So much for science.........

No, life is something that is decided only by the almighty.
While science really is incredible....especially today....it cannot explain everything because it is strictly logic based. Life is a combination of the logical and the illogical.
The spiritual aspects of life are very real and cannot be explained by science. That is why I feel that while we can learn so much, and our lives are greatly improved by science....we also must keep our minds open to the things it cannot explain.
As with all things, I think it's important not to go extreme on your perspectives. Don't go completely scientific and don't go completely spiritual. Life is a balance....a combination, if you will....of the two.

they can do that now within reason. am not a doctor by any means, but CPR and using the crash kit with the "jumper Cables" As long as they get to you within minutes with those things can bring you back. And technically you are clinically dead. They just haven't officially declared you dead yet. Once you are declared dead, then they just give up trying.

The fact is that science is not that advanced. We have not found solutions to non-polluting renewable energy. We do not have the means to travel from planet to planet and we lack a lot of knowledge regarding ourselves and the other beings on this world.
