We just moved into the house in October of last year. Planted some fine fescue in the fenced in area - that we put in - and the rest is... well... the rest is in the video.

grass seed will not grow in poor drainage soil or i think i seen red clay soil i think you need to redo the part of the yard with the poor soil conditionslooks like clay and too much sand also seen crab grass which will choke any other grass you try to plant putting epson salt on this will not help what so ever

looks like u just need to sprinkle some epsom salt in the yard, it promotes grass growth and makes it greener.
Also a good insect repellent would be to fill a jug with water and add a little dishliquid and listerine and splitz in the yard.
these methods are safe and chemical free./

you need to switch to the other side once in a while and use an actual bat like a good 10 or 11 size like the ones I carry
and that WILL make YOUR grass a lot greener
