every country contains their own beauty, either Iraq, Iran, Zimbabwe, Philippines, estados unidos etc. people just have their own favorites, depends on the way person defines beauty...

I lived there for two years (1970,1971 and part of 1972) when it was Rhodesia. There is much beauty there, but now you simply can't go there at all. Under the current political regime the country has descended essentially into anarchy. The infrastructure has all collapsed, the government has all but eliminated agriculture, starvation is widespread, and the crime - in broad daylight, in a public place and with a gun in each hand you still are not safe anywhere in the country. Industries have all collapsed, education is virtually non existant, the only thing you can count on is that you'll be awfully glad to get out of there alive. I visited in 2003 and was appalled at how little was left. I had planned to be there a week, was there less than 14 hours. I recently read that unemployment is at about 85% if you believe the government, higher if you believe non government sources.

I have lived in Zim for a while, but im not from there. To answer your questions.
1)It is a beautiful country, the cities and the tourist attractions are striving to remain that way, but so far its still nice.
2)the infrastracture in the capital and main cities is good, but not too many high buildings. It has enough good hotels. Nightlife tends to be abit dry, unless you have a good group of friends.
3)At the moment, it is a very poor country. But it has become that way because of political instability. It has the highest inflation rate in the world. The currency is useless. One has to carry millions to buy groceries.
4)The good schools, which are many offer British Education Certificates. The Zimbabwean local Certificates are no longer accepted much, by other countries; this is the alternative.

Dont know if this is important to you, but i found the people to be very unfriendly. But everyone has their own experiences.
Is it a nice country? I would say no, but listen to what other people say as well.

Zimbabwe (formerly "Rhodesia") is a beautiful country, but I wouldn't visit it right now, because it's a cruel dictatorship and the country is bitterly poor and in an extremely bad shape, economically as well as politically.
For more information, you should search for Zimbabwe on Google or Yahoo or at any other search engine, or go to http://www.wikipedia.org and enter Zimbabwe in the search bar.

Greetings from Germany...

Hey, I think Zim is a beautiful country. I lived there for over a decade and I miss it dearly. Its a pitty though that "good old garby" doesnt want to leave power and is ruining what to me was one of the best places to be in Africa. The infrastructure is good, but at the moment inflation is at 1000%+ and services are collapsing. Recently doctors were on strike and were demanding 800% pay increase!!!! Zim had the highest rate of literacy at one point and was even the bread basket of southern africa. Its a shame, a real big shame. I pray that Mugabe goes soon, and leave Zimbabweans to rebuild what was once my home.

I was born in Zimabbwe, its awesome, ok fair enough right now its definitly not so awesome. But I still go there every december. I love it - but you have to know the tricks of the trade. There's a lot of bribing involved. Very poor. Very sad. But, the most beautiful place in the world!..Give it a few years or so, then go!
