Back before Charles and Diana had kids, it was known that the Royal Family's surname was Windsor. Since William went to Uni, you only ever seem to hear them use the name Wales. Is that just William and Harry, or did they all change their surname?

The British royal family has sort of an odd irregularity with regard to the use of last names.

It's not uncommon for one of them to use the place name in their title as a last name.

The whole Royal Family is known as Windsor. The Queens children have taken the name Mountbatten-Windsor to honor their father. Princes William & Harry are called Wales' because they are the sons of the Prince of Wales, just like the Duke of York's girls are called Yorks. I think it is a "follow the title thing". I am just guessing, if I am wrong don't put my head on a stick, I am American.

That's a good question but I don't think the princes have changed their surnames. Windsor was probably considered too undistinguished for them in the army and William and Harry Wales was chosen instead.

No, the family name is still Windsor. The children are known as Wales because their father is the PoW.
