I plan on taking my Chi flat iron to Japan this march so I can style my hair. I took it last year and it worked fine, except maybe the iron got a little bit too hot (I just turned down the temperature). But I'm curious to know if I might short circuit the hotel, etc. The iron runs on 120V, 35Watts.
Thanks.

The voltage difference is 110 vs 120
and you won't need a converter.
220v is for washing machines and such not your regular household gear I've Been in japan Twenty years and the only diff erence I ever noticed was my blow dryer ran just a little slower but it still lasted 10 yrs.

Most hotels have transformers that you can use inside [just sign it out]- there tiny little plugs that you just slip over your iron-socket.
You may need one, because if not it may damage the irons and you run the risk of getting a shock.
You can also check with the hotel about there level of voltage just to be safe.

yeah for sure
if the electricity there is 220v or 210v
its better to use one
only to make sure it wont be damaged
