It's basically just a club with a grapling hook & line inside of it that DD uses to swing from (sort of like Spiderman or Batman do). The hook and line can be retracted inside the club and then he can use it as a billy club. Or they can be extended and he can use it for climbing or swinging from the line.

In addition to what Otis T said there are two of them one for the grappling hook/swinging and one is weighted so when he throws it, it hits bad guy/wall and comes back to him. They can also be put together to be a walking cane for when he is Matt Murdock ( blind secret ID)

it has nice rounded ends and built in lubricating action so daredevil can shove it right up his bum.*not a big fan*
