Well you can bet Harry's unit will be well equipped with the proper body armour, will travel in the correctly armoured vehicles, have guns that won't jam and basically everything the regular grunt doesn't.....
Just dont let the Americans anywhere near him when they are shooting at something otherwise that really would be the end of the "special" relationship with the US...
I wish him well like all the current UK forces serving in a war which was unwanted, un-just and now Tony Blairs legacy!
He's an officer first and a royal second...people should consider that as other peoples lives rest on decisions he may make....

There will be major security problems which will place the Prince's security staff and fellow soldiers in even more dangerous situations than now. The insurgents will view Harry's presence as a challenge and, consequently, will intensify their attacks.
I do not think the Royal Family is intent upon showing Blair as hypocritical but, rather, following the same course as when Prince Andrew saw active service in The Falklands.
It is, however, strange that Blair announces troop reduction numbers while we learn concurrently that Prince Harry is to be deployed in Basra.

I think Harry has a death wish, and the government are willing to help. I had the same thoughts as you regarding "cuckoo" until I saw a piece of film of Harry and it struck me how like Charles he looked. Harry is very much like Dianna's sisters son, the red hair is on the Spencer side. I think Tony Blair's older children, two sons and his daughter should be in the front line. Blair should volunteer as well.

Say what you like about the Royal Family, however historically they have never been shy of serving on the front line (Andrew in The Fawklands springs to mind).
So fair play to him, it is what he has trained for and so clearly should go, for a start can you imagine the press furor if he didn't?
As For Euan, if he joined up, I would hope he would go as well, as it is I don't think he would pass the inteligence test.

Fair enough, he's in the army and wants to treated like a regular soldier, and i applaud him for that. I think that it will be more dangerous for his comrades though. Yes it might help reinforce our waning support for the royals, but i also think the war is illegal anyway. if he gets injured or killed, he'll bleed like any other human. One thing though if he does get injured there will be much more public outcry than there has been for the other 100 dead soldiers killed in Iraq. The thing is, if you join an army you must expect to get shot at, I get annoyed by these people joining the army, getting trained to kill and then they get all upset because people try to kill them. If you do not want to go to a war zone then do not join the army.

I think thats a bit unfair mate, its his choice an his alone to go, he's put his foot down an said no, if my regiments going I'm going. Fair play to him, Henry the V was the last Royal to go to battle, the only one downside I will say is perhaps the hightened security risk of his fellow soldiers, I mean they'd love to get that one wouldn't they.
BIG UPS HARRY!!!
Its about time someone at the top started doing instead of telling others to do.

As a serving soldier he should do his duty by serving in Iraq like other soldiers.
But as Blair announced he's pulling troops out of Iraq, so Harry will be home in time for tea unless there's a China Whites in Basra.

Whats wrong with you people ? Its like dragging raw meat into a den of starving lions. He just wants to play soldier so that others can see he's not a *****. Meanwhile, his entire unit will be THE prime target for any insurgents even close to them. He should know that he will never be put in any real danger but if he is, the bad guys will hit him with everything they have.

Presumably, when he joined the Army, he knew that some day he would need to see action somewhere.
What bothers me is the publicity being given to it - it will surely make him a target for kidnappers in Iraq and consequently, the security surrounding him would have to be huge. Who would relish the job of being responsible for his protection? Doesnt sound like an easy job.
