ME! OMG YES! Okay, personally, I like pretty much all rock music, techno, dance, opera, and euro-pop. Rap is just crap without the C. Rock is better because the artist puts their whole body, especially their soul, into their music. It's great. I hate Rap and Hip-Hop, and this it is disgusting. I also hate Hip-Hop dancing because it has nothing to it. If you mess up, nobody notices because it'll just look like a dance move. Compared to fine Ballet, you don't need to build up muscle to dance, and there is no proper form or disipline to the Hip-Hop.

I go to a Catholic K-8 schoole, where maybe 85-90% of the students are white. Out of ALL the students, 90% ONLY listen to hip-hop crap. It's disgusting. I'm East Indian, and during our free period, us girls (boys and girls are seperated) where listening to some music through iPod speakers. There was this one song, "We Fly High"...something like that. And the man said "baller!", and I thought he said bowling, so I was like, "BOWLIN?!" All the girls (they were all white) said to me, "Goodness, you're so freakin' white!"

Alot of rap is degrading period; putting men in equally offensive boxes as women. This is also true of pop music that portrays women as sexual objects or as weak love-desperate "girls".

However, there is alot of rap that is socially progressive such as Rage Against the Machine and there is rap in gospel, such as Kirk Franklin's Stomp.

Eminem has some really good political stuff even though much of his stuff is violent. Sometimes the violence is a direct reflection of the rapper's life and the pain behind the expression makes it poetry. Life is not pretty and the writer needs a place to put the pain.

The commercial crap is doing what American culture demands by rewarding the musicians with millions. We are currently a culture that glorifies violence, degrades sex as a casual experience and places money above people.

Rap is just a reflection of the selfisheness that currently fuels our communities.

A lot of rap is crap.
But , I try to keep an open mind and I have to say that some of it (very little, in my opinion) is listenable.

I don't buy into the conventional wisdom that rap is a "real" urban expression of what really happens in some peoples' world.
People aren't suppose to beat up, shoot or rape other people.
That kind of action is inexcusable and requires tough laws.

Rappers might "sing" about that kind of stuff but say that they actually don't do it...but there is a co-relation that some young kids will try to live up to the rapper mentality and actually act out the violence they hear.

It's been said (and it's true):
Be careful of your thoughts, for your thought become your words.

Be careful of your words, for your words become your actions.

Be careful of your actions, for your actions become your habits.

Be careful of your habits, for your habits become your character.

Be careful of your character, for your character becomes your destiny.

Degrading to the type of women they're rapping about, which if you think about it isn't degrading at all, it's accurate.

It is music, the topic of choice among young rappers today is just simple-minded.

Rap started out ok, with themes of political nature. Now its become this bling-bling bs, and you don't need to be a genius to realise, that its degrading to women. You can't really call it music either.

I remember hearing all this back in the early 90's, rap hasn't changed, some people just like to rag on it every so often which only makes it more popular.

The greatest role model of disrespect to self as well as the music industry and women too, is Marshal - Eminem.
I think I'm one of the few people that feels he has no real talent - he just sells to whomever pays...like a prostitute.

I think as long as people pay to hear it; it will be produced.
