Apple says that you can only take that iPod out in 32 degrees fahrenheit and above weather - when you're using it.

You can have it, when it's not on, all the way down to -4 degrees fahrenheit. And this holds true for current iPod Nanos, iPods (with video,) and the iPod Shuffle.

If you DO take it out and it's too cold, I have found that at around 25 degrees fahrenheit (if it's in your pocket) it will "short out." Basically, the screen will go dark, the music will stop playing, and it'll say that it's because of the battery life. But don't fear. Once you bring it back into room temperature or so it will magically be re-filled to it's previous battery life, and it should work just fine.

Still, I don't recommend taking it out when it's under 30 or so degrees.

its supposed to be kept above 40 degrees farienheit, but if you like put it in a couple of those ipod socks you can buy, and stick it in a pocket close to your body it should be fine, as long as its not below 0, but then why would you b outside at that temp?

As long as you don't set it on a block of ice it will be fine. I go running every morning with it sometimes it's close to 0 so I am sure you will be fine.
