Only the rich can keep up.
I wear my winter, spring and summer fashions for about 3 years. I keep my clothes in very good condition and try to throw in one or two 'trendy' pieces each year, just to add a little spice to my regular wardrobe and update the look a bit.
Trendy fashion is a hobby, and if you have better hobbies it's just too expensive.
Fashion has to be done right, and I disagree with other people who say that you can get second-hand clothes and still keep your finger on the pulse. But you can't. Trendy fashion takes money, almost unlimited amounts of money.
Accessorizing is a big deal, and those things are constantly changing. One year its leather accessories, another year it's gold bangles, the next year it's silver, the next it's beads.... seriously. An average person would be continuously broke if they tried to keep up.
The high street is fine, but again, you can tell the difference in quality. Buy cheap - look cheap.

too trendy. Following the trend is too expensive b/c new clothes is needed every season. But I still like the current trend.

a spin off of victorian age clothing with the corsets acid wash bootcut jeans light and simple makeup that's fresh, with flip floops and a hoodie, if you don't wear a corset or a peasant blouse. Also empire dresses and shirts.

Well,I can tell you there's a trend right now that's really ugly....the wide belt waaaaay up high on the waist. Makes your body look strange!

I think they are stupid & sheep-like.
I prefer to be my own person, with my own highly-developed sense of what I like.
