I would definitely call your doctor (or mid-wife)., but don't panic. I never experienced pain with my pregnancy (just 24 hour "morning" sickness for 3 months)
Every one is different. Your doctor (or mid-wife) may just tell you over the phone that it is nothing to worry about. But it is best to get medical advice from professionals.
And yes, you can eat mayo and salad dressing, although I would avoid any "homemade" or "natural" , "organic" types. And as always with mayo & salad cream, never eat anything made with it if the food has been left without refrigeration for extended periods of time.

I have had exactly the same and told it was my body adjusting to being pregnant (I also had bleeding / clots / back pain - so everyone different - this is only my expereince not advice), and some of the bleeding was caused by implantation etc.. It has settled down alot now (am 15 weeks) although I do keep an eye on pains.
As for salad cream / mayo - I eat it but thats my preference - my midwife / GP and specialist know and no-one has told me it is bad!!

Ok, first question: YES....I've had period like cramping and dull aching since week 7. I'm now 20 weeks along with my baby boy AND STILL get that, but those pains have no turned into Braxton Hicks (something I NEVER though I would suffer from) But, if you are NOT bleeding, there's nothing to worry about. It's your uterus stretching and growing and making room for your growing baby.
Second Question....Are you serious? No really...are you? Mayo? Why would you have to avoid that?

period pain: i had some round about that time and it went away on in its own im now 16.5 weeks, but you can phone your midwife and explain it to her and she'll tell you exactly what to do.
mayo: you can eat mayo and salad cream but only if its made from pasteurised ingredients. hellmans is ok, but be wary of home made ones. no raw eggs no fresh creams made from un-pasteurised milks

as long as you are not bleeding and the pain is mild you should be fine, obviously if you start having period like cramping and/or bleeding you should go to the doctor. either way it never hurts to ask questions, so if when you see your midwife you would like to let them know about it, please do, they can help you feel better about this new experience. congrats and good luck

I had the same thing. I was actually very sick & had to go to the hospital...they told me the pain was the ligaments in the uterus stretching. VERY VERY normal
