should i get a 256mb graphics card or a 512mb??

Question

i only play RTS games ( where you command troops from above )
do i really need a 512? or is that more for halo and half-life games, etc...
or in order to have the graphics set on high for really high tech RTS games , do i need a 512. and if you could suggest some good brands, thanks

Actually you dont need a 512 Mb card , all you should care about while buying the card is that the card meets all the new game needs like pixel shader vertex multiplier etc .
you should buy a graphic card with all the effects in it not how much memory it has .

i will suggest you NVIDIA® GeForce® 7300 GT 256mb you can search it and find more similar products if you would be lucky you may find a good one , 256 works well , RTS games and many more games in the market to day needs minimum specification of 128 mb and it will be static till 2008 so stick to 256 its better , cheaper and the best just remember no matter what memmory of graphic card is it should meet the game need 256 is all ok

128mb or 256mb or 512mb

all have different ranges.

There are 128MB Cards which are for just like $38 and then there are again some VGA cards of 128mb which are for like $600.

The major difference is the pipeline of the VGA card.

I would prefer you to see the speficications of all the VGA Cards on TomsHardware.com They have full benchmarks of all the VGA Cards

512 if you can afford it! Next years games are almost assuredly gonna require it! I prefer ATI!

512 is recomended. but before purchasing, copare the features of that card to that of your mother board and see to that, your mother board supports that card.
