india is not originally an orthodox country. the things that are said in the vedas and the bhagwad gita are totally the basis for human understanding and the spirit of love, care and brotherhood among people. but as the times change, the knowledge and attitude becomes incomplete. it is like the flow of water. some flows and some gets wasted in the process of movement. this is what happened in our so called high values society. the women of india are not treated like humans. they are considered to be machines (MERE MACHINES) thats true!!! i amy be harsh but the truth is the truth. social idoticities like dowry, child marriage, foetal death of the girl child are prevalent in our so called high values society. i don't understand that why do we indians like to so boastful of our failures. were a failure as to not accepting our mothers, wives and sisters with their dignity. we call india a land of opportunities but why should someone suffer for making her husband or brother or son successful in life??? if there is someone who can answer then pls do.....

1> The belief that men and women should have equal rights is fine. But that doesn't imply that we need to offer women more freedom. That just implies that men ned to be restricted. Men always take undue advantage of their liberties. And that's in all the parts of the worl not only in India.

2> Men and women are two beings endowed with different set of capabilities and responsibilities. Each one should perform his/her dutiesds honest. We don't need to nag about it.

3> The concept that freedom of women is not a part of our culture is completely wrong. Our culture believes in freedoms which also impart certian duties alongwith. All we do is keep nagging about lack of freedom. What about the set of duties? For that we say that's not my job, or I'm not your servant.

4> Not all men are hypocrites. Talking about hypocrisy, it goes the same wit hwomen. They believe they can do all that man can do, but when it comes to facing the world like a man does, their dignity comes into picture. A boss cannot shout at her female employee because she is a women, a young girl traveling in a bus would never offer her seat to any old person standing (unlike men) because doing that she would let down the her dignity, we need to stand in queues for hours to get a ticket booked while a woman is rarely stopped from breaking the rule. A woman herslef would picture herself to be strong and capable when it comes to talking about competition with men. But her womanhood is deglorified if she actually lands into competion and faces all the things that a man has to face.

5> Women were termed as 'Devi' in those early days. 'Devi' means goddess. Women today claim that people only talk about it and they haven't actually given the status of 'Devi' to them. Well we used to call them 'Devi' because they used to take care of the family with love and passion. They used to pacify your over aggression, motivate you whenever required and facilitate a better homely environment for you. But now most of the ladies want to live separate after they get married.
They wanna contribute for their kids the way a man does, and not the way they are supposed to. Then why do they want the same status. As you change your functional areas, your status changes.

Think over it. Generalization without studying the complete picture is wrong...

Dear Nitin,

I wont give u large explanation why it happened but a single and solid reason.

Actually, I feel and beleive that ancient people in India were very broadminded, humane and provided equal rights to women.

There are many evidence in the history itself, like women used to select her groom herself which even today in our society is a taboo.

This evil and many other such evils like child marrgiage, sati pratha, parda system, caste n religion divides etc. have started after foreigners started invading us, whether it be Moghuls, Britishs etc.,

People used to fear a lot about their women from being harassed from these invaders so used to marry them very early, became narrowminded, lost humane nature etc. Ant it seems absurd but that salvery thinking still exists in us, and that made india lose its original anciant culture of broad mindness, humanity & freedom of women.
