I am not familiar with VRIL generators. If you want to magnify the mind and bodies vibrations you probably will get along fine willfully imagining where you wish to steer and go.

Magnification of mind be from seeing through minds eye willfully where one wants to go and focus on the spine near brain at meditation moments. Gemstones or colorful stones vibrate naturally with earth energy so place on body sometimes or near. Earth energy helps most.

Also add a: scented herb-flower of choice pillow/ a pentagram placed beneath bed with some stones of choice.

really i dont know what you are reffering to, however there is a method that probably is related with the experience you want to achieve,it's called OOBE(out of body experience)Using brainwave technology it has been found that a certain combination of alpha and theta harmonics caused the immediate transference of consciousness away from the physical body.
The OOBE experience is an advanced form of astral projection. It can involve complete secondary body translocation rather than mind projection. A typical example of OOBE is where you actually see your physical body in the position you left it.
Astral projection (or astral travel) is an interpretation of out-of-body experiences (OBEs) achieved either awake or via lucid dreaming, deep meditation, or use of psychotropics. Proponents of astral projection maintain that their consciousness or soul has transferred into an astral body (or "double"), which moves en tandem with the physical body in a parallel world known as the astral plane. There are two general schools of thought on the nature of astral projection Mystical model-(The subtle body is attached to the physical body by means of an energetic connection which usually takes the appearance of a silver cord 'plugging' into the chakras like an umbilical cord.)
Phasing model-(When a person projects, they actually "phase" into another area of consciousness and the locales it contains. This can be likened to tuning a radio to another station. One of the initial signposts representing a phase shift away from physical reality has been labelled the state of focus 10 (mind awake/body asleep). This viewpoint can be seen as a logical progression of the philosophy that external reality is actually an internally created state ,check the link in the source bar,for

dunno what a VRIL generator is but you might go astral travel using a hypnosis (I have not test it though). For example, when put you into trance state, make sure he/she instruct you to be able to go into astral travel at will after he/she bring you back from the trance state. but if you manage to get into astral state, you will be seeing objects in blue-ish colour and at times be able to understand things that instant.

You're talking about something that was fabricated for a science fiction novel. Not only do they not work, but they don't exist.

edit: Hey, Sarge, Dr Strange is the Master of Mystic Arts. He doesn't need some generator to do this stuff.

Oh yeah .. I hear Batman uses them all the time. There is no such thing and astral travelling is a myth.
