Does anyone know what the Victorians used to plump their lips? I read it once but cant remember?

not sure but id say it had something to do with menthol, thats what they put into plumping lipsticks, it gives your lips a tingly feeling.

They probably rubbed nettles on them or something - stick to safe modern methods like lip venom etc.

Im sure it was from something poisonous but cant remember the name of the substance.
