TALK AND VOLUNTEER.
I have had some wonderful jobs. I did not apply for any of them. They were all offered to me. Some because I did voluntary work there first. Some I didn't know about but I talked and talked and questioned and showed genuine interest and these people told me about the jobs and offered them to me. My son-in law is a CEO in IT and employs people he says the genuine interest and the being willing to volunteer/ do apprenticeship type work gets the person the work even in IT.

Go to school (because you're not getting into the IT industry unless you can prove you learned how to do it), then compete with about 5000 other people for the same position, if you're lucky, your name will be pulled out of a hat and you'll get hired. Until then, try to use your most marketable skills to get a stand in job until you can get the job you want. That's pretty much how it goes in the US.
