Yasmin is the best pill I have ever been on. I was on Microgynon too, but have tried a number of other pills adn Yasmin is by far the best one. I have much lighter periods, less cramping, less mood swings and also clearer skin!!! I have not had any bad side effects and would really recommend Yasmin to you if you Doctor recommends it and prescribed it for you I say go for it!!! Good luck and hope that Yasmin works well for you too :-)

Yasmin is a combined oral contraceptive pill that contains the progestogen drospirenone (3mg) plus the oestrogen ethinylestradiol (30 µg).
Yasmin causes an inhibition of ovulation by suppressing the hypothalamic-pituitary hormone axis like other COCs, but it contains drospirenone; which has anti-androgenic effects. This effect will help you for your mood changes. It also has some other hormonal (antimineralocorticoid) effects that will prevent fluid retention, and you don't gain too much weight according to oedema and your blood pressure will increase.

I have previously been prescribed Yasmin but had constant breakthrough bleeding so had to stop. I then had the contraceptive implant inserted which has had very few side effects.
Everyone responds to meds differently so its probably best trying things out for yourself; it's simple to stop taking Yasmin if it doesn't agree with you.

Yasmin's great for mood swings, and getting your cycle sorted, NOT a very good Birth Control method though! Its a very light pill and I suggest using condoms if your using Yasmin.
