I really need your help. I think I have found a job i really like the look of, and although it's not exactly in term time, i think it could be good for the time being.

It is a food taster for a local firm, and luckily, i am already familiar with their products, and like them.

The application form has a section where they ask for my reasons for applying for a position with them.

Apart from the obvious (money), how can i word it so that they will say "oh she sound good, let's give her a shot".

I need some help, please

A good sense of taste, attention to detail, etc. would be good things to put in. You could try something along the lines of wanting yummy food on the market because you're tired of food that's too bland, spicy, etc. Just make sure that you can hold up to what you put onto the application. If you don't have good communication skills, you may not be much help. For example, if you think there's too much cilantro, but don't know the name of the herb you can generally describe some of the characteristics or list some other sources of the flavor.

Just hope it's not a dog food company ! lol

No seriously, without knowing about the company, no one can answer this for you.

I would advise doing your research on the company and looking up their website. Answer the section with something tailored to their company and which shows that you have done your homework.
Something along the lines of having a keen palate and an interest in food and cooking should go down well too.

you could just say you are a big greedy pig and the thought of free food would be a dream come true

Explain that you have a sensitive palette that allows you good taste buds and that you would not hold back from praise or dismissive of the results that you have been asked to taste, tasting food for you means you have been given the responsibility to ensure that the finished product is up to the standard the firm wants and what the customer desires to the benefit of both the company and those who of the public who may eat the product, thereby enhancing the reputation of your employer by this, to do this job would give you the satifaction or getting paid and feeling that you are contributing to the firm and the public in doing so.

In addition to the great answers you have already had, I would suggest you put emphasis on your interest in supporting local industry, with a view to learning more about the company, its products and management. With this in mind, you could say that by starting at the food tasting grade, you were interested in whether there are opportunities for advancement to management in the future. Good Luck and Good Tasting!

Do a little research on the company and say something like, "I am interested in a position w/this firm because of it's sound economic and environmental practices. I look forward to being part of a great organization and ensuring quality products for our customers."

Not sure if it's true...so do a little research...grab something from their home page and use it in the reason.... Good Luck! Sounds like a tasty job!

hi you could put in there that you would like the opportunity to work for a company with an outstanding reputation and that you would like to be part of it success.

On the other hand you may find that after you have tasted 60 different variant of a product you'll not want to taste it again. Believe me i one had to do a taste test on ketchup 15 different types straight off a spoon i could have ketchup for 3 months.
