I just got done asnswering a question about nursery supplies and quite a few people suggested the lady get a dummy. What is it? I am from the US and have never heard of it. I am really curious.

Oh, I guess this is one example of the difference between British English & American English. BTW I call it a sucky.

Its called a pacifier in America but here its a dummy. They are are heavenly piece of equipment for peace and quiet!!

its is something we use that you prob call a pacifier. But if you can get through without one it is the best thing. My baby has a comfort blanket instead. I was tempted sooooo many time but i stuck to mu guns and now we dont need one anyway. Babies need to cry sometimes. However i dont judge anyone who has a baby that cries A LOT and uses one to get some peace and quiet.

its what babys suck on, some people call them either, a dummy, soother or a pacifier

Personally, I think they are a lazy parents tool.
Also, too many times I have seen a parent on a bus or in a shop picking up a dropped dummy, wiping it on their sleeve & putting it back in the baby's mouth - Ugh!

a dummy is just a fake human made out of cotton and sewed cloth thats it

Its a nipple to suck, no hole no milk, just used to pacify a baby who even after feed wants to continue sucking.
