Fertility starts to gradually decrease after the age of 25, by about 5% a year. So fertility halves between the ages of 25 and 35. After 35 it drops off even quicker.

At 20 you should have no problems conceiving, although bear in mind that even in the right circumstances, there is still only a 25% chance of conceiving in any one month.

I was 28 when I got pregnant and it happened very quickly for me. But like you I know lots of women who it has taken longer for, but most of them were in their 30s.

Try not to worry, I'm sure you will have a baby before too long.

Sorry about your last pregnancy and so I can understand your fear and panic - but you're only a baby!!! - you've got years ahead of you my love! I was 31 when I came off pill after 10 years and got preg immediately - had a baby 38 weeks after coming off pill!!! Then again when I was 41 within a week!!! Im trying now so I'll have to wait and see but I just had a chemical pregnancy literally in my first cycle. So I dont think age for me has anything to do with it, we're all just so different. FYI I put my fertility down to a healthy home-cooked diet - I don't eat crap food and I have lots of juices and veg and fruit, I exercise regularly in the fresh air - power walking, yoga, cycling, horseriding, I dont drink much alcohol, never smoked or done drugs, and have always been like this and looked after my body and I dont get stressed about much even at work - I'll pretty chilled out about life. Not sure if it has anything to do with it - could be just in our genes - but it certainly doesnt harm you to live as healthy a lifestyle as you possibly can, hopefully giving your body the best possible chance to conceive a healthy baby. So love your body and it'll repay you! Also, doing yoga works on keeping hormonal balance and keeps you calm so it might be worth starting yoga before hubby comes home in May, that way you'll be a laid-back chicklet with no worries - Good luck in May!!!!

Ok well at 18 I fell pregnant the second time I had sex. The baby died when I was four and a half months pregnant. Due to the grief and pain we tried like rabbits to get pregnant again. Didnt work. Although we only tried for like a month. Two months after that I fell pregnant again and delivered a healthy baby girl.
When she was 1 I fell pregnant again but had a miscarriage at 4 weeks due to stress. A coupl;e of months later I was pregnant again and delivered another healthy baby girl.

So yeah I think its much easier to get pregnant when you are young. As all the eggs are young and our bodies are designed to get pregnant when we are young so as we age our eggs age and our chances decrease.

My recomendation is if you want to try then DONT. Just dont use protection and let nature take its course. You will be pregnant before you know it. The key is not to worry, stress or think about it. Just have fun 'practising' and you'll be a mummy in no time.

I'm terribly sorry about your loss and hope you have a bundle of joy really soon.

Your chances of concieving are 20 -25 % in any given cycle and those numbers go down the older you get.I'm 39 and I believe my chances are like 8% any given cycle. But those are just numbers.Fertility does decline as we age which is something our Dr.s fail to tell us.We've been TTC for 15 months and are waiting for his SA .I still O regularly and should not be having problems concieving, but we are. When I was in my 20's I was very fertile but couldn't tell you how long it took since I wasn't actually trying to get preg..lol.I would talk to your Dr and see what his recommendation for you would be ,generally in someone your age it's after a year of trying that they tell you to see someone.Very few women get preg the first time trying so don't get discouraged if it takes a few cycles..good luck and hth :)
